The Richards Family Bursary was set up after Mum, Diane, passed away to give Nurses and Nurse Auxiliaries a helping hand in their education and to help them progress in their careers. Each year, £1000 is awarded to an individual to support them with their Education. Lisa, Harry's daughter says, 'One recipient of this award was Sian (now a student Nurse) who looked after Dad in Hospital and her words will stay with me when she said ‘ It is nice to be able to care for the person who has helped me in my career – to give back.’ This is the reason why the Richards Family Bursary Award was set up, to help and support our future carers. After Dad passed away I received some lovely emails from the ward Sister Louise and Consultant Dr Victoria Gaunt... Sister Louise wrote that ‘Having spent some time with your Dad talking about Mum, he was his usual jokey self. A real charmer’ Dr Victoria Gaunt wrote ‘I had become very fond of your Father and it was sad not to see him on the ward round for our usual morning debate! What a character, he will be sorely missed I am sure.’ The Richards Family Bursary is supporting Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity.
